Lobster bit and giggles
Our trip started out so bad that you think we would just give up !
On Monday the day before we left , my son had a fever and was vomitting, I took him to the dr and all they could tell me it was a virus, nothing serious. This seemed to be 24hrs only. He had to miss his last day of school which stunk cause they were having a little pool party for him and his classmates.
Tuesday the day of departure.
The kids and I went up to my sons school to collect his napping blanket and end of year projects. When we got home, 20 minutes prior to leaving I see my daughter sleeping on the sofa and I'm like Lord please NO. I picked her up and yup she had a fever ! We knew that this was 24 hrs and put her in the car anyway and OH YEAH we paid the price. I put a towel over my daughter incase she decided to play exorcist. We took both vans, one carrying all camping supplies and mine carried clothes, toys and a power Wheels.
At the first stop my daughter got sick on the towel we had covering her and we just threw it away and got back on the road and we were making our way, not rushing.
The third stop hubby decided to give her some oatmeal cookie and some coke. 45 minutes later ( at this point we are 35 minutes away from the camp site ) I look back, my beautiful daughters towel is nowhere in site and projectile excorcist of oatmeal cookie and coke, not once but 3 times. I start honking the horn like nuts to get hubbys attention cause in stickville we were in a lull and I couldnt get thru until the 2nd try.
We pulled into the next gas station where we had to undress her, take her carseat apart and wash the buckles then we laid them on the top of the hood to dry. My daughter then informed us her tummy felt better.
Her buckles dried but we couldnt put the cover back on, we bagged all the grossness and just put a towel down in her carseat.
5 hrs from when we started the trip( supposed to be 2.5 hrs I think ) we arrive at our campsite. As always we arrive during the windiest time of day and getting the tent set up with a man who thinks everything in the cosmos is trying to destroy him is NOT fun, lol.
We set up our air conditioning tent ( yes my mad scientist hubby designed our tent to hold an ac unit, lol ) and got our camp set up.
First day was awesome, they were so excited and behaved so good ! They got lots of attention from the older folks on the beach who adopted them persay.
The kids got to see the Lobsters in the tank at the super Walmart and OH boy they are going to be mad when they get back to Cary and there are no lobsters here in our Walmart.
The 2nd day we noticed that my daughters legs had what looked like bug bites / hives. Now she does have very sensitive skin on her legs and her exezma is no picnic at times. We went to the ocean than the pool that day and thats when the bumps got real red, she didn't itch or complain. We gave her some benedryl that night to see if it was some type of allergic reaction.
Greatest part of the day / night. We were sleeping and at one point I was just tired and I prayed that GOD lead me into being a better parent and wife and person and just to let him know that I love my family and friends.
About 30 minutes later, My sweet baby boy starts giggling like a madman in his sleep and smiling ! It warmed my heart cause I know he's dreaming of the great day he had, the calmness his brain is allowed him this day just to be a normal little boy.
Third day...
Her hives looked better but they came back so we are wondering if she's allergic to iodine or chlorine from the pool. Today their behavior was NOT so great. My princess kicked her brother in the back, he swiped her chair away and so on. When I went to go get lunch, apparently he had a breakdown on the beach and hubby had to pick him and carry him back to the tent with princess in tow which was only 20 feet away anyways, not very far since we were right there against the beach.
later that evening I took them out to get some final pictures. they are still trying to learn to kick fish like their daddy does ( sigh, the one thing that embarrasses me that my hubby does ) I'll save on how to do that for another time but lets say the kids had pet fish everyday we were at the beach, lol.
Overall it was a good trip. We had about 3 people tell us we were good attentive parents compared to most out there. As we were packing up, this lady came by and said oh you're leaving today? We said yes, she replied well we have enjoyed watching your children play all week, they are to cute and fun to watch.
Yes Im beaming,lol.
The trip home was uneventful, yes I admit we gave in and set up hubbys laptop so they could watch a movie which is something I really have NEVER wanted to give into, since they get 2 hrs a day of tv as it is now and it makes me sick but they were tired of their chalks and crayon books.
So as we are driving thru the rural areas of South Carolina and North carolina, Im looking at the shacks, abandoned houses and shanties and at some of these severely run down houses there are people living there and Im wondering okay you live in a shack but you have a lexus ? So it makes me ponder would I give up my nice cozy house to have a Lexus ? UH NOT, so I wonder what is it that makes this person think to themselves that man this is the life ! I'm NOT bashing their way of life but I can't imagine anyone choosing a luxury sedan over a better roof over their head and their families head.
So now we are calling princess, Lobster bits cause she goes around saying PINCH PINCH and doing her hands like a lobster and OH she wants to be a lobster for halloween !
All I can say is that it's good to be HOME !!!!
